Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.

Services

Sundragon Editing offers four levels of editing to suit your individual needs. Unless otherwise specified, I edit using the track changes feature so you can see the changes I have made. No matter what level of editing you choose, I will always point out potential problems and insert comments and suggestions.

  • Light Editing

For the document that needs a quick check by a pair of experienced eyes. I will either make changes directly in the text or use the track changes feature, whichever you prefer. In one reading, I will check:

    • Spelling
    • Word use
    • Capitalization
    • Punctuation
    • Grammar

I will also do some minor rewording for clarity, without changing your writing style.

  • Light-plus Editing

Because sometimes one reading just isn't enough. Light-plus editing is exactly like light editing, but with two complete readings. This option may be just right for you if you know your document has multiple spelling and punctuation issues or if you are self-publishing on a budget and a deadline.

  • Medium Editing

For documents needing closer attention, especially to sentence and paragraph structure. All medium editing will use the track changes feature so you can easily see the changes I have made. In three readings, I will:

    • Check spelling, word use, capitalization, punctuation and grammar
    • Provide more extensive rewording for clarity, without changing your writing style
    • Perform minor structural changes
    • Flag possible problem areas (i.e., copyright concerns)
    • Ensure consistent and correct formatting of notes and bibliography (if applicable)
  • Heavy Editing

For documents that need close, line-by-line editing. All heavy editing will use the track changes feature so you can easily see the changes I have made. In three readings, I will:

    • Check spelling, word use, capitalization, punctuation and grammar
    • Reword for clarity as needed, without changing your writing style
    • Perform more extensive structural changes
    • Ensure overall clarity and development
    • For fiction manuscripts, ensure consistency in plot and character development
    • Flag possible problem areas (i.e., copyright concerns)
    • Flag repetitious passages
    • Flag areas needing further development
    • Ensure consistent and correct formatting of notes and bibliography (if applicable)
